Day Trip- Springfield, Massachusetts 7/27/2012

Part 4, Springfield Science Museum at the Springfield Museums quadrangle.  Home of the oldest American-built planetarium in the world.  This museum also contains Dinasour Hall with a full-size replica of Tyrannosaurus rex.  There is an African Hall with taxidermy African wild life and info about African tribes. A live animal center with live fish, insects, reptiles and amphibians.  Also Astronomy Hall and Native American Hall.  There is also a hands on sluce mine, like panning for gold.  The current special exhibit is Lego Castle Adventure through September 9. 

Take the G3 (green #3), B6 (blue #6), or B7 (blue #7) bus from downtown Springfield.  Get off at the Springfield Public Library stop.  The museums quadrangle is behind the library.  Free admission courtesy of Free Fun Fridays 2012.
