MARCH 16, 1968: THE MY LAI MASSACRE, VIETNAM
Forty-four years ago today, United States troops destroyed a village consisting of mostly women and children. This event is now known as the My Lai massacre.
American Experience’s 2010 special on the My Lai massacre explores its subsequent cover-up and the heroic efforts of the soldiers who broke ranks to try to halt the atrocities, and then bring them to light.
